What Animal Welfare Means to Us

Animal welfare is a cornerstone of our commitment to producing high-quality milk – the essential ingredient for crafting exceptional Parmigiano Reggiano. It means ensuring cows receive a balanced diet, live in clean, safe, and comfortable environments, and benefit from attentive, ongoing care from farmers and veterinarians. That’s why we work closely with our milk suppliers every day to improve management practices and foster a culture of respect and empathy toward animals.

THE COMMITMENT OF THE ENTIRE SUPPLY CHAIN

Animal Welfare

THE COMMITMENT OF THE ENTIRE SUPPLY CHAIN

Our commitment to the quality of milk and Parmigiano Reggiano involves every stage of the supply chain – from the barn to the table. It all begins with 40 farms that produce the milk, which is then processed in our dairies in Selvapiana and Cigarello. The journey continues in our aging warehouses, where the cheese matures slowly until it develops its unique character.
The process is completed with cutting, portioning, and packaging at our facility in Sant’Ilario d’Enza, and ends in the storage warehouses where the end product waits to be shipped out to Italy and around the world.

THE INVESTMENT WE BELIEVE IN

THE INVESTMENT WE BELIEVE IN

At DalterFood, animal welfare is a fundamental commitment. Thanks to careful and responsible practices, the milk produced reaches high standards, the result of the farmers’ dedicated work. At the same time, this commitment reflects the resources and investments our Group devotes to the supply chain, from the dairies to the people who work within it, with an approach that is truly unique in the world of Parmigiano Reggiano PDO.

ANIMAL WELFARE IN OUR BARNS

ANIMAL WELFARE IN OUR BARNS

Animal welfare is regularly assessed by our veterinarians, who carry out inspections in each barn to ensure that the animals live in optimal conditions. During these evaluations, we carefully consider the five freedoms of animal welfare:
• freedom from hunger, thirst and poor nutrition
• freedom from environmental discomfort
• freedom from disease and injury
• freedom to express natural behavior
• freedom from fear and stress
This approach allows us to closely monitor animal welfare and, together with our farmers, improve living conditions in the barns by promoting increasingly attentive and respectful practices.
